Mushroom is an Indian Bengali erotic drama film. It was released in 2011. The film was directed by famous Sri Lankan filmmaker Vimukthi Jayasundara. It was shown at many international film festivals. One of them was the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
Story Summary:
Rahul is a Bengali architect. He worked on a construction project in Dubai for many years. After some time, he returned to Kolkata. His girlfriend Paoli (played by Paoli Dam) was waiting for him.
When Rahul came back, he found out that his brother had lost his mental balance. His brother now lives in the forest. He sleeps on trees, eats plants, and has made a strange friendship with a French soldier.
Rahul and Paoli go to look for his brother. On the way, they meet people who lost their homes because of city development projects.
The film has some bold and open scenes. These scenes help show the serious and real nature of the story.
