Story Summary:
The movie Damal begins with an international women’s football match between Bangladesh and Japan. People across the country watch the game on TV. But Bangladesh plays poorly and loses 9-0. The team loses the next three matches as well. The players return home feeling sad and hopeless.
The girls on the team come from poor and struggling families. The team captain’s father is very sick and stays in bed. Her mother works in a garment factory to support the family. She tells her daughter to stop playing football and start working.
Another talented player, Maloti, also faces problems. Her grandfather and sister-in-law force her to get married. She also thinks about quitting football.
The girls feel very discouraged and decide to break up the team. Just then, an old football coach arrives. He tells them a powerful story to inspire them.
The story is about two young men, Durjoy and Munna. They became heroes just by playing football.
From this flashback, the main part of the movie begins. In their story, football is more than just a game. It stands for sacrifice, struggle, and love for the country.
