Story Background:
The story takes place in a small town called Kanneda in central Canada. Many South Asians, especially Indians, live in this town permanently. The main character, Nimo, was born and raised there.

The series starts with Nimo singing a Hindi song. He is a talented sportsman and a good singer. One day, he goes to buy a diamond ring for his girlfriend. But the ring he likes is already pre-ordered by someone else. Still, he buys it by offering more money.
As he comes out of the shop, something shocking happens. Two men on a motorcycle suddenly shoot at him. Nimo falls to the ground, badly injured and bleeding.
