Mersal is an exciting Tamil action thriller from 2017. Actor Vijay plays three roles: a kind-hearted father and his twin sons, Maaran and Vetri.
Story Summary:
The story begins in Chennai, where some medical staff go missing. The police suspect Maaran, an honest doctor who treats people for just 5 rupees. Officer Rathnavel arrests him, and the truth slowly comes out.
In flashbacks, we see Maaran helping people and visiting Paris. There, he falls in love with a young doctor named Pallavi. We also see a magician, who looks like Maaran, killing a doctor named Arjun Zachariah. This twist adds mystery to the story.
Later, it is revealed that Maaran is not behind the kidnappings. The real person is his lost twin brother Vetri, who is a magician. Their father, Vetrimaaran, was a brave and honest doctor. He built a hospital for villagers. But his wife died because of a corrupt medical system. Vetri was thought to be dead at birth, but he survived and grew up wanting revenge.
In the end, Vetri and Maaran work together. They fight against the corrupt doctor Daniel and his team. They also show the problems in the healthcare system.
